Carrier Procurement Specialist

  • Establish mutually beneficial carrier relationships to fill your carrier portfolio
  • Ensure the company’s customer acquisition and revenue growth targets are achieved or exceeded via individual contributions to their successful deliveries of loads according to customer KPIs.
  • Be a thought leader for the sales team to the benefit of your carrier portfolio
  • Achieve growth and hit individual gross margin and volume targets through cold calling and establishing mutually beneficial carrier relationships.
  • Enter and track carrier and prospect data in company software to create actionable operations plans
  • Together with the operations manager, prepare and deliver appropriate presentations, provide valuable input on bid strategies and input for customer RFPs
  • Negotiate/close deals and handle complaints or objections from carriers
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve service obsessed results that exceed customer KPIs.
  • Gather feedback from carriers to share with internal teams
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting carrier relationships by partnering with them, understanding their needs and working with the operations manager and sales teams to design solutions around them
  • Track back-end billing and invoicing to ensure carrier charges are accurate and PODs are collected within 24 hours of delivery
  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status


  • 1-2 years of applicable operations experience in the transportation industry
  • 2-3 years of applicable, progressive responsibility in operations, business to business sales, production, warehousing or other transportation related industry
  • Experience with a start up of any nature is helpful
  • Extensive customer service experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, prioritize and negotiate is required
  • Detail and results obsessed
  • Proficient in MS Office, TMS, CRM systems
